Retention

When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. We promote and believe in the effectiveness of indefinite orthodontic retention. In other words, for a patient to be able to maintain their beautiful, straight smile, they must continue in the retention phase of orthodontics indefinitely.

Indefinite orthodontic retention is important because, as a person ages, there will be definite skeletal, soft-tissue and dentoalveolar changes, which will ultimately cause the teeth to shift and appear crowded. These changes occur whether a person has undergone orthodontic treatment or not. With a constant force working against those changes, patients can be confident in the long-lasting results of their beautiful smile. To help our patients achieve and maintain beautiful, straight smiles, we want to provide you with helpful information to better explain the natural aging process of our mouths and the treatments available to prevent crowding of the teeth.
